Ever wonder if beveling your soap is really worth the time of yet another step in the soapmaking process? We snapped this photo during a recent soap-making adventure & it really shows the difference between the beveled & unbeveled soap.
On the left, you have the soap bars before we beveled them, and on the right, a row of post-beveled soaps. The difference is pretty striking! To us, the bars on the right look more professional & finished.
But like most parts of the soapmaking process, to bevel or not is a personal choice as a soapmaker! Lori bevels all her soap, and Ruth does not. There is nothing wrong with unbeveled soap, if it looks the way you want it to. If you sell soap, try asking your customers if they have an opinion. You might be surprised by their answers.
