We all know that we're supposed to use pure distilled water for soapmaking, but it's always begged the question - what happens if you don't?
Recently, we switched from bottled drinking water to reverse osmosis drinking water, and decided that we should give it a go in soap. After all, reverse osmosis water is pretty pure, isn't it?
Guess what? Reverse Osmosis Water isn't pure enough for soapmaking! Check out what happened to our soap:
See those lighter colored spots all over the surface of the soap? On this same day, we made 2 batches of soap with Reverse Osmosis water, and 2 with Distilled water. The distilled water soap didn't have these dots.
So now you know - Distilled Water really is the only way to go for soapmaking! We suspected this was true - and our little experiment proved it.
