Above and beyond just being an almost unbelievable story, this video has particular significance to me because the keynote speaker at the Soap Guild Conference that I'll be attending in Vermont soon just happens to be Ralph Bronner, the son of the founder of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps.
Without further adieu, here is the 7-minute video. Before anyone starts freaking out - just to clarify - soap does not contain GHB or any other illegal drugs (it gave a "false positive" reading). But apparently, the cheap drug test kits can be used to distinguish between "real soap" and "fake (detergent) soap." Isn't the list of "non-soap" or counterfeit soap products enlightening?

I've always suspected those "natural soap" companies. Just looking at the ingredient list can be a tip-off. But that guy from Dr. Bronner's doing the testing sure looked like he was having fun proving what's true soap!
thanks for your comment ruth - i agree, you have to be skeptical of the word "natural" these days. and yes, the ingredient list will tell you a lot (and if it doesn't, there is always the drug/soap test)!
Ug...KissMyFace used to make one product I really liked, but then I couldn't find it anymore. Now I am grateful for that!
Anyway, I learned to make soap at Boot Camp last July and that's all I use anymore.
Once your favorite little niche product becomes nationally advertised you should forget about it. It has become another part of a giant empire that belongs to a giant corporation.
